CSR is now mandatory as Companies Bill passed by Rajya sabha

Dear SRRF Dialogue Members,

As you all know that SRRF organised a RoundTable yesterday on CSR and released a Report on 100 top Corporates CSR programmes. The event was well attended.

Through this post we bring all of you up to date with the Big News that Rajya Sabha has passed the Companies Bill this afternoon, since Lok Sabha had already passed the same, CSR is now officially mandatory.

We will soon also be sharing important findings of study undertaken by SRRF in this topic.

Congratulations for sharing updates on CSR, more than that for the pioneering study conducted. The challenge ahead is how best it is used?

  2. Uday Chaturvedi says:

    Dear Friends,

Corporate funding of Political Parties, vide the amendment, promotes crony Capitalism.
Why can’t an automous Trust for handling such donations by Corporates,Citizens,Central and State Gvernments be created through an Act of Parliament?
Otherwise our Legislatures will become subservient to Corporates.

  4. Khagendra Parajuli says:

As per Companies Bill 2012 spending towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities must not be less than 2% of three-years average profit and it is mandatory in nature and in case they are unable to spend the money, they have to provide explanations.
