Traffic police SMS service, to restart soon

Due to constant demand for traffic updates through SMS, the Delhi Traffic Police is in process to re-start the service through SMS very soon. Previously, the service was launched free of cost in June 2010. However, the Delhi Traffic Police had to discontinue it in September 2011 after the Telephone Regulatory Authority of India had put a ban on sending bulk text messages.

Those who had activated DND (do not disturb) service on their phones will have to send an SMS ‘join dtp’ to 09219592195 from his mobile phone to register this free service provided by DTP. This will also alert commuters about traffic diversions or advisory in the city. The SMS service is a two-way service in which a subscriber can send information about traffic movement and also receive traffic updates.
