Raffle Tickets- Lucky draw as a fundraiser

Dear Friends,

We at United Way are exploring the idea of holding Raffle Tickets draw- Lucky draw as a fundraiser. And wanted to understand the legal implications and practical aspects of organising such an activity. We would also want to understand specific pointers to be kept in mind related to Designing of the Ticket, collection of funds and announcing the winner and accounting the funds received etc. Warm

Regards

I suppose the United Way is the same organisation which arrange Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon. It it is true, then do you want to organize Raffle Tickets draw for the NGO registered as member under you? or explain your purpose for raising fund.

    Dear Anupama Kalra

The Raffle ticket activity should not be a significant activity to raise the fund. It has a certain non compliance of Income Tax Act to involve in commercial activities. That activity should be an ancillary activity to achieve the main object.
